“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

About the Artist

South African born Githe Marshall, an exhibited painter, photographer and graphic designer, creates unusual contemporary art.

Being unable to design full-time or hold a paintbrush for any period of time due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, she started experimenting to find an alternative way to express herself creatively. What developed was a very unique and personal style.
Githe challenges perceptions of authenticity, context and reality by using all the tools at her disposal. She digitally integrates her personal photographs, drawings, watercolours and oil paintings to create complex and multi-layered artwork.

Her work is characterised by the unusual blending of photo-real images and whimsical effects. Her love and understanding of colour and light, combined with the surreal sense of tranquility she creates, makes her signature pieces easily recognizable and highly sought after.

Githe has travelled to over 27 countries, and finds inspiration in the people, landscapes and cultures she explores and photographs.
Her greatest influence, though, still remains the continent of Africa
